WC 2010: Group A

The national football teams of  South Africa, Mexico, Uruguay and France have been drawn to Group A.

The team of host nation South Africa will play the opening match of the 19th Fifa World Cup in Johannesburg (Stadium Soccer City) against the Middle American team of Mexico. Kick off for this match will be June 11 at 4pm GMT+2.

 

Initial Situation and chances:

  • France is definitely the favourite to win the group stage – runner up in World Cup 2006 and strong European Team
  • Mexico and Uruguay could have a battle for 2nd place in Group A – Mexicans in slight advantage to Uruguay
  • South Africa is the “big unknown” – ranking low in Fifa, but being host nation with fans on their side!
