WC 2010: France vs. Ireland

Irelands hopes for a replay of the World Cup Qualification play off match against France are gone.

Friday, 20th November, the FIFA has rejected Irelands request for another game after Thierry Henrys hands before Gallas equalizer.

A FIFA statement says:

"The result of the match cannot be changed and the match cannot be replayed," FIFA said in a statement. "As is clearly mentioned in the Laws of the Game, during matches, decisions are taken by the referee and these decisions are final."

Despite FAI has launched a petition to its counterpart the French football association to ask FIFA to change its mind, FFF representatives said that the Fifas decision is final and that they will not take further action.

After a 0:1 loss in Ireland the FAI team won 0:1 in Stade the France and the two teams had to go on overtime. In minute 102 William Gallas scored the 1:1 what was the qualification for France.

Prior to Gallas goal Henry used its left hand to keep the ball from going out of play and after played the ball to Gallas who scored.
